Description
The Aletsch Panoramaweg is a breathtaking hiking trail in the Valais region of Switzerland, offering stunning views of the Great Aletsch Glacier—the longest glacier in the Alps. The trail spans approximately 30 kilometers and is typically divided into three stages, each showcasing unique alpine landscapes, glacial vistas, and panoramic views of 4,000-meter peaks such as the Matterhorn and the Dom.
Travel Information
The trail is accessible via public transportation. To reach the starting point at Belalp, take a post bus from Brig to Blatten bei Naters, followed by a cable car to Belalp. For those beginning at Riederalp, a train to Mörel and then a cable car up to Riederalp is recommended. Given the trail’s linear nature, utilizing Switzerland’s efficient public transport system is advisable for return journeys.
Note: Some sections of the trail may have detours or closures. It’s recommended to check the latest trail conditions before planning your hike.
