Goal is what comes of your Area of Focus. Goal is a mechanism to pull you back on course with your area of focus. They are a step to help you achieve your main goal that you’ve defined in your Area of Focus. The reason why your goals are tightly coupled with areas of focus is because they will help you stick with them the most, because they will resonate with you.
There are two types of goals
- Long Term Goals - These should be in your Area of Focus
- Short Term Goals - These are smaller goals that are related to your area of focus.
You should avoid defining SMART Goals for your personal goals. The reason is that in organisation they provide natural motivation to complete the goal to get more money etc.
