Remote Backend is a state file that is stored somewhere in the cloud, and everyone has an access to it. It allows everyone to share the state, update it and so on. It can be either done by storing it in an S3 bucket or by using Terraform Cloud. When you decide to manage it by yourself, you have to ensure that you lock updating Terraform State Files with DynamoDB while someone is in a process of updating it at the same time.
