This is one of the three Customer-Supplier Contract types where one team dictates the integration. Conformist is a take it or leave it pattern where a supplier provides you with the contract, and the consumer has to adjust. Usually, the supplier has little to no motivation to support clients, it just provides integration contracts according to its own model.

This is common case where you have to integrate an external service into your own or use. Also if that contract is an industry-standard, well-established model that is used by quite a lot of different companies, and it may be good enough for the downstream team’s needs.
