Never provide information about how much you make

Do not provide your current salary. Provide information abouit your range (lower and higher), and make sure that the lower is not your lowest, but more like midpoint.

Example
I prefer to focus on the value I bring to the role than my current/previous compensation. Based on my experience and the responsibilities of this possition, I’m looking for a salary in a range of 57k to 65k.

Don’t talk about toxic boss/badmouth your previous company

Do not say bad things about your previous emplyer as this will backfire.

Don’t say where you interviewing when asked

Don’t provide interviewer information where you are interviewing atm. Just say that you are interviewing with others at the same time. When you are not interviewing, say the same.

Don’t say you’ve been searching for long time

Don’t say it’s been a long search. Just say that you are being picky and want to ensure that the next place you’re gonna work for is the one you will see yourself for more than a couple of years.

Don’t accept offer straight away

Try to negotiate with them when you can.

Example
Thank you for the offer. I’m really excited about the opportunity and appreciate the details provided. Would it be possible for me to take 24 hours to review everything and get back to you tomorrow?

After 24:
Thanks again for the offer. After carefully reviewing the details, I’d like to discuss a few points to ensure the package aligns with my expectations. I’d be keen to explore adjustments in [mention specific areas, e.g., base salary, equity, remote work flexibility, etc.], given my experience and the value I can bring to the team.

or

I’ve had time to review the offer, and I’m really excited about joining the team. I’d like to propose a counteroffer with [list adjustments], considering my experience and the responsibilities of the role. Would you be open to discussing this?
